Looking for the parents of Neil Ferguson (various spellings including
Fargurherson) of Nairn, Nairnshire, Scotland. Married Mary McIntosh in Nairn
in 1811. They had four children
Donald 1814 died before 1841?
Mary 1816
James 1820 (my great grandfather)
Helen aboiut 1822
He may have come form Perthshire or Ross and Cromarty. He died before 1841;
Mary is described as a widow in the 1841 census.
His marriage to Mary could have been his second & if so his first marriage
may be either
1. Neil Ferguson who married Elspet Rose (Ross) in Auldearn Nairn in 1791
2. Neil Farquharson who married Margt Hay in 1795 in Cullen, Banff
His descendents are well documented and include my grandfather George
Ferguson who came to Australia in about 1882.

"My John Ferguson is my great uncle. He was born 8 Aug 1855 in Nairn, Nairn,"
Scotland son of James Ferguson and Margaret Slorach.
He is recorded in the 1861 & 1871 census. He was a house painter. He is not
recorded in the 1881 census anywhere in the UK.
He may have come to Australia and settled in the Darling Downs in Queensland
and married Annie Roach in 1894.
Anyone recognise this John?

He was a printer (compositor) not a house painter. His older brother William
was a house painter.
